You don’t need to spend a fortune on expensive creams and fancy jars, like I did… for years!
The truth is… the real secret doesn’t live in a product. It lives in you. In what you eat. In how you live. And in how well your body can clean and renew itself from the inside out. And then the creams, natural and inexpensive.
When you start supporting your body instead of fighting it, things start to shift.
Often already within a few weeks: your skin softens, your hair looks fuller, your energy rises… simply because your system starts working with you again.
Most women don’t realize that a big part of skin ageing comes from something called AGEs:
These are sticky sugar residues that attach themselves to the proteins in your skin and connective tissue. I always compare it to sugar caramelizing in a pan – once it hardens, everything becomes stiff. That’s what happens in your body, too. More wrinkles, less elasticity. And they mainly come from excess sugar, soft drinks and foods that are baked or fried at very high temperatures.
Then there are ALEs. These are created when fats and sugars are heated together, like in fries, donuts and pastries. They damage your nerves, your tendons, your cell walls… and slowly but surely, your skin loses its glow. It becomes dull, tired, older than it really is.
On top of that, we have free radicals. Think of them as rust inside your body:
Smoking, alcohol, air pollution, too much sun… they all speed up this process. That’s where antioxidants come in. But not the artificial ones in pills. I’m talking about real antioxidants, from real food, that actually support your body instead of overriding it.
This is why I love cruciferous vegetables like broccoli sprouts, radishes and arugula. They contain sulforaphane, a compound that doesn’t just act as an antioxidant, but also activates your own internal system to produce more of them.
You become less dependent on external solutions and more powerful from within. And yes, raw or lightly steamed works best.
Another thing most people are afraid of… is not eating.
But short periods of fasting, like a 16-hour break from food, give your cells the chance to clean up damaged parts. It’s called autophagy. It’s literally your body doing housekeeping.
Getting rid of the old, making space for the new. And when that happens, your skin reflects it. It becomes smoother. Brighter. More alive. And so do you.
Your liver plays a huge role in this, far more than most people realize. It produces bile, which helps you absorb healthy fats and vitamins. Without enough good fats, your bile thickens, everything stagnates, and your skin often becomes dry and dull.
Healthy fats from olive oil, eggs and fatty fish keep things flowing, keep your system supple, keep your glow alive.
What I do advise you to avoid are industrial seed oils like sunflower oil, soy oil and corn oil. They oxidize very easily and are hidden in almost all processed foods. They speed up oxidation, so ageing, from the inside out. Instead, choose real fats: extra virgin olive oil, butter, and coconut oil. Simple. Natural. Supportive.
And no, cholesterol is not your enemy.
It’s actually a building block for your hormones and strong cell walls. When people lower it too much with extreme diets or medication, the skin often becomes thinner, weaker, more fragile. Your body needs cholesterol to stay resilient, also your skin.
If you want to support your body on a deeper level, focus on real foods like grass-fed red meat, sardines or wild salmon, free-range eggs, broccoli sprouts, extra virgin olive oil, walnuts and a bit of good quality dark chocolate. These aren’t trends. They are ancestral foods that nourish your system in a way no supplement ever will.
Add to that daily movement — walking, taking the stairs, being in nature — and deep, nourishing sleep.
During sleep, your body produces melatonin, one of the most powerful natural antioxidants. It repairs your skin. It restores your nervous system. It renews you. Seven to eight hours of real sleep isn’t a luxury. It’s medicine.
And yes, I know… the world wants to sell you shortcuts. Expensive creams, anti-age capsules, miracle programs. But what they usually do is treat the surface. Never the root.
And you’re not here for surface-level change. You’re here for real transformation. From the inside out.
So if you want a simple place to start, start here:
- Let go of sugary cereals and soft drinks.
- Eat a big, nourishing salad every day with olive oil and broccoli sprouts.
- Make sure you hydrate with electrolytes as it is so important to keep minerals in the cells.
- Walk for 30 minutes.
- And give your body the gift of sleep before 11 PM.
You’ll feel it.
Not just in your skin.
But in your whole being
